Neasden
Hindu Temple - London
Before our trip to London, I had watched a number of travel documentaries, hoping to enlighten myself on the best London had to offer. One presentation had told of the wonderful Neasden Hindu Temple. Which was said to be the largest temple outside of India, and had been totally built by volunteers. On our last day in London, we put it as our last tour destination. We were so glad we made the effort to see this spectacular place. We were met by an armed guard. I explained to the guard, we had come from America, after seeing a travel documentary about their beautiful temple, and how it had been built by volunteers. The guard directed us to a small building across the little road, where we needed to check any back-packs, or such belongings, before entering the temple. The inside of the temple was more beautiful than I could imagine. The faithful were engaged in their beautiful chants and rituals. There was an overwhelming feeling of peace within. There was also a small museum which walked you through the history of the Hindu faith, and other information. I was taken by a couple of their spiritual teachings, which predate Christianity. One being a story of a fisherman, which closely resembled the fisherman story of the bible. For those of any faith, who plan to visit London, the Neasden Hindu temple there, is very worth visiting. |
